Bishop Smith has been faithfully married to his wife, First Lady Adrienne, for twenty one years. God graced them with three beautiful daughters, Sylvia, Sarah and Crystal. Bishop Smith holds in high regard his lovely wife and beautiful children, demonstrating the value of family to those God has entrusted under his care.
Bishop Smith is known for his practical approach to the Bible and has encouraged thousands to pursue a personal relationship with God. God instructed Bishop Smith to “tear down denominational and racial barriers, and build a multi-cultural church for the Kingdom of God.” Therefore, he is committed to bring in the bound, the oppressed, and the broken hearted, make disciples and equip leaders that will impact our communities and the world, for generations to come.
Bishop Smith was ordained as a minister of the gospel in 1993.
On December 29, 1996, Bishop Smith was ordained a licensed minister from Oakland Christian Center.
In September of 1998, Bishop Smith received his Certificate of Ordination as a Member of the Clergy of Ambassador Christian Fellowship International.
On July 4, 1999, Bishop Smith was installed as the Senior Pastor of Ambassador Christian Fellowship located in Concord, California where he served for four years.
On July 15, 2001, he also received his Certificate of Ordination from Calvary Christian Center, Sacramento, California.
In December of 2003, by a divine appointment, orchestrated by God alone, Bishop Smith was connected to his Spiritual Father, Bishop Eddie L. Long, and the presiding Bishop of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia. Thus, began a Father and son relationship ordained of God connecting the East Coast and West Coast according to God’s plan and purpose.
On February 8, 2009, Bishop Carl Smith was given a Certificate of Commissioning by Bishop Eddie L. Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, as an Ambassador Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
Bishop Smith has spearheaded a grass-roots community outreach effort, taking various ministry initiatives, into the surrounding community. Seeing the critical needs of the surrounding community, such as a 40% plus high school drop out rate, pervasive academic underperformance and increased unemployment, in September 2009, Bishop Smith created a non-profit organization called City Reach. City Reach is committed to assisting local academic institutions and community based organizations, increasing opportunity for children, youth and adults to advance and meet life’s challenges. The message of City Reach is: to equip, empower and educate children, youth and adults through the development and enhancement of life skills through a variety of community-partnerships and faith-based initiatives strategically endeavored to help people excel and achieve success.
On November 1, 2009, Bishop Smith received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian College.
On January 31, 2010, under the Order of the Bishopric, Bishop Carl Smith was consecrated as Bishop of the Global Apostolic Council of Bishops, under Presiding-Bishop Eddie L. Long.
Bishop Smith is the Author of Hope That Maketh Not Ashamed. The purpose of this book is to take you on a journey - a journey of hope. He also has founded: In Him Embassy Ministries and a publishing company: In Him Publishing. In Him Publishing is designed to teach, equip and raise leaders that will impact the world, and provide a vehicle for others to spread the message of Jesus Christ.
He is a visionary, and God is using him in these last days to bring reformation to the church: restoring the original intent of God to His people.
